“Why do fancy ladies hate farms?” Declan asked. He woke up with this earth-shattering question on his mind.

“I don’t know,” I said.

“Seriously, Mom. Maybe they hate farms because they dress so nice and farms are dirty?” He insinuates I’m not a fancy lady.

“Probably. They need to understand farms are cool. They’re where our food comes from.”

“Why do handsome men always brag about how hot they are?” That question is harder to answer.

“I don’t know. Maybe they’re insecure,” I say.  “Maybe they don’t think they’re perfect but they have to make other people think so.”

“That’s not it, Mom. They just want the girls.”

“You don’t have to be hot to get the girls. You can be nice. Or smart. Or funny.”

“That’s not true, Mom. Really… why do they brag?”

“Because they’re hot and they don’t want anyone to miss out.”

“Oh.”

Sometimes there are questions Google can’t answer.

For that, you have to come to Mom.
